HMU CIE "Labor Day" holiday safety tips

Dear students:

The arrangement for the Labor Day holiday in 2026 is as follows: May 1st (Friday) to May 5th (Tuesday) will be off, a total of 5 days. As the holiday approaches, safety comes first. The school attaches great importance to everyone's travel safety and campus order stability during the holiday. Now we will inform every one of the holiday safety precautions and hope everyone will enhance their safety awareness to have a safe holiday.

Dormitory safety

1.Students self-cleaning: All students must clean the dormitory thoroughly before leaving school, and store personal items properly. The students who are the last to leave the dormitory must close the water and electricity main switches, lock the doors and windows to prevent loss of property and the occurrence of safety accidents.

2.Concentrated inspection of student apartments: The management personnel of student apartments conduct a sweeping safety inspection, focusing on checking for illegal electrical appliances, flammable and explosive materials, as well as potential safety hazards in the dormitory's water and electricity facilities, windows, and doors. Problems discovered are promptly recorded and rectified to ensure comprehensive dormitory safety.

Water Safety Prevention

1. Do not swim, bathe, or play in reservoirs, ponds, rivers, lakes, or seas in the wild.

2. Do not swim in unfamiliar waters without safety facilities, rescue personnel, or supervision.

When swimming in formal swimming places, always pay attention to whether there are any abnormalities in your body, observe if there are any dangerous conditions around you.

4. Students who are not familiar with water should not attempt to rescue on their own.

5. Learn basic self-protection, self-rescue, and rescue methods. In case of emergencies, promptly call 110 or 120 for help.

Traffic safety

Travel Safety: Strictly abide by traffic rules, do not ride in vehicles without operational qualifications or in poor condition, wear seat belts when using public transportation, and wear helmets when cycling. Plan the route in advance for long-distance travel, allocate sufficient time, and keep communication channels open at all times.

Electrical Safety

1. Use electrical appliances with caution: Before using various electrical appliances, carefully read the instructions and strictly follow the operating standards.

2. Regularly check equipment: Before the holiday begins, conduct a comprehensive inspection of the dormitory's electrical appliances and wiring. Check for loose or damaged plugs, sockets, as well as signs of aging or exposed wires.

3. Standardize charging behavior: When charging electronic devices such as mobile phones, tablets, etc., use the original charger to avoid long-term charging. When the charging device is not in use, unplug the plug in time to reduce standby power consumption and safety hazards.

4. Safe use of power strips: Choose qualified power strips and do not plug too many electrical plugs into the same power strip. The power strip should be placed in a dry, inaccessible place, away from water sources and flammable materials.

When leaving the room or going out, turn off the power switch of the electrical appliances, and unplug the plugs to completely cut off the power. Not only does it save energy, but it also prevents accidents caused by electrical malfunctions.

Personal safety

1. Social Security: Stay vigilant in unfamiliar situations, do not reveal personal information, home address, contact information, etc. to strangers. Do not accept food or drinks from strangers. If you encounter harassment, seek help from people around you or call the police.

2. Home safety: Lock the doors and windows when going out, and store valuables properly. When encountering strangers knocking on the door, verify their identities before opening the door easily.

Disease Prevention

1. Wash hands thoroughly: Rub hands with flowing water and soap (or hand wash) for at least 20 seconds, especially before and after meals, after touching public items. If necessary, alcohol-based hand sanitizer can also be used.

2. Wear a mask: Properly wearing a medical mask in crowded places, poorly ventilated areas, and when in contact with individuals with respiratory symptoms can effectively prevent the spread of the virus.

3. Maintain social distance: Maintain a social distance of more than 1 meter from others to reduce the risk of close contact and droplet transmission, lowering the chances of infection.

4. Regular ventilation: Open the windows for ventilation at regular times every day, at least 2-3 times, for about 30 minutes each time, to allow indoor air circulation and reduce virus concentration.

5. Enhance immunity: Maintain a balanced diet, ingest a variety of nutrients such as vegetables, fruits, and proteins; engage in moderate-intensity exercise for 150 minutes per week; maintain regular sleep patterns to boost the body's resistance.

Network Security

Be cautious of unfamiliar phone calls: 1.Do not trust any requests related to money, whether it is from "public security, procuratorial, and judicial authorities" asking for transfers for investigation, or "customer service" claiming there are issues with goods and requesting refunds through links. Official institutions do not call to request transfers.

2. Do not trust online information: The investment and rebate information such as "easy money" and "high rebates" seen online are all fraudulent traps, do not be greedy and try.

3. Protect personal information: Do not casually fill in your ID card number, bank card number, verification code, etc. on websites or apps with unknown sources. Handle express delivery orders and tickets properly to prevent information leakage.

4. Verify the identity before transferring money: Before transferring money to others, make sure to verify the other party's identity through phone calls, video calls, etc. Even when lending money to acquaintances, one should not be careless.

5. Be cautious when clicking links: never click on unknown links in text messages or emails, as they may contain viruses or phishing websites that steal your account passwords.

6. Install anti-fraud APP: Install the national anti-fraud center APP in a timely manner, activate the warning function, and add an extra layer of security to your property.

Legal regulations safety

1. Consciously abide by Chinese laws and regulations, consciously abide by school rules, do not participate in any unauthorized collective activities, stay away from gambling, drugs, and other illegal activities, and resolutely refrain from doing anything that undermines social security, personal safety, and the school's image.

2. If you need to go out (such as leaving the campus, leaving Harbin, or leaving the country), strictly follow the procedures for applying for leave during holidays.

3. Do not participate in illegal organizations, illegal religious activities, or organize collective activities without approval.

4. Without permission from the competent authority of the Chinese government, working off campus or engaging in any part-time activities is not allowed.

Holidays are a great time to relax, but we must never relax the safety string. Let's keep these safety knowledge in mind and have a safe, happy, and fulfilling holiday!
